This is the proposal for the competition “Iceland Northern Light Rooms”.

The project consists on the design of a guest house in Iceland, the chosen location was adjacent to Myvatn lake, and the site extension was 9 hectares.

The program had to include a group of transportable guest room modules and a larger construction for reception, restaurant and owner’s residence.

We proposed a series of trapezoidal volumes resembling ice blocks that just felt on the lanscape. In contrast to the sharp and cold exterior, the interior is cozy and warm. The shiny and cold stainless steel for the exterior clashes with the warm wood for the interior.
